Greetings and Happy New Year! We are sending you a message to let you know that one of your databases, hosted on MongoHQ, will be **upgraded to MongoDB 2.0.2** soon.

##Environment: Hydra##

##Date of Upgrade: Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at 11:00pm EST (GMT -5)##

##Length of Maintenance: 10-15 seconds. ##

In most basic terms, this should not be a "breaking" upgrade, but with multiple languages, drivers and driver versions being used, it is always good to take time before this upgrade occurs to consider if your application is using a recent version of the Mongo driver.

It should only require a couple of seconds for the database to be upgraded and connectivity restored. Our operations team will work as safely and quickly as possible.

##Support##
If you have questions about the upgrade, please contact us at *****@mongohq.com**. We are happy to assist you and ensure you are prepared.

##More Information on Our Blog##
During the upgrade period, we will be rolling out additional information on some of these version changes as well as new features and capabilities that we are bringing to MongoHQ. Please visit the [MongoHQ Blog](http://blog.mongohq.com) and the [MongoHQ Docs](http://docs.mongohq.com) site for more!

##New Features##
MongoDB 2.0 includes fairly significant improvements. Here are some of the highlights:

**Faster/Smaller Indexes**
Indexes are, in most cases, 25% smaller and 25% faster.

**Concurrency Improvements**
MongoDB will now, in certain cases, yield a write lock when having to go to disk for information ... increasing query performance

**New Geospatial Features**
You can now use $within queries for polygonal shapes. This is great for odd polygons like counties in a state.

**Compact Command**
An especially useful feature is the new compact command, which allows you to compact individual collections in a database without having to repair the entire database.
